A Tour in Scotland
9 May 2026

This May, James and James visited a friend at Glasgow University, and took the opportunity to tour some of the most beautiful and profound sites and sights in the UK. The Kelvingrove Museums and the University are exceptionally impressive achievements of the imperial period, but at the Rock of Dumbarton and Traprain Law, the deep Pictish past also came to life. Loch Lomond in the spring is indeed ‘bonnie, bonnie’, and it was stirring to see the museum of the Scottish Flag at Athelstaneford — James W has proud Scottish ancestry (his Granny was a Munro).
There was also time for the rich cultural life of Glasgow: the world’s oldest surviving music hall at the Britannia Panopticon; the extraordinary experience of a performance at Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre; some very tasty cocktails at Rascal; and the opportunity to have some wonderful deep fried haggis too!
