Adventures in 'Lawyer-land'

Earlier today, we were delighted to attend the ancient Quit Rents Ceremony at the Royal Courts of Justice, at the invitation of the guest speaker, Tim Ashton.

The Quit Rents Ceremony has been continuously observed for eight centuries, and is the oldest current legal ceremony in the English-speaking world (with the exception of the coronation mysteries). Following the arcane rituals of the City of London, and Tim's speech, the guests retired to Middle Temple for a wonderful reception under a fantastic Tudor ceiling full of deep English cultural meaning.

Following many memorable and stimulating conversations at Middle Temple, we resumed the evening in Grays Inn, at the Bridge Bar... all set for our next London adventure in a few days' time.

The Quit Rents Ceremony is charming, eccentric and quintessentially English. If you ever receive an invitation, we heartily recommend taking up the opportunity!
