In Hoc Signo public debut at prestigious festival
27 June 2025

James and James were delighted to join Jacob Chandler at the Private View of the art currently on show at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery for 'Environment', the Shrewsbury Arts Trail 2025. J,J&J collaborated in the creation of In Hoc Signo, a triumphant output of Byrga Geniht's cutting edge research into the history of thought and art. In Hoc Signo debuts in this exhibition, but will rotate with other works by Jacob Chandler at the end of July to make our landmark exhibition, Number in Time and Space at the Minories, Colchester, in August.
In Hoc Signo can be found during July in the main first-floor gallery, alongside amazing contemporary solo works by Jacob Chandler, Halima Cassell, MBE, and Andrew Logan MBE. The curation also encompasses modern masters, and Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Marc Chagall and Roy Lichtenstein.
A recent big theme for Byrga Geniht has been the use of light in historic architecture as well as science and theology. James Tapscott's light boxes (Photography Series Edition 9) portraying ice core sample microscopy, and sponsor DJT Entertainment's audio-visual setup grabbed our attention. Our own projection show within the Minories exhibition in August will include the light geometry of the Apps Temple project in Essex.
It was a pleasure to catch up with friends both in the art world, and in the civic life of Shropshire. Having delivered several keynote events about our research in this ancient county, there were quite a lot of familiar faces!
