St James Garlickhythe is one of the City churches destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666 that was subsequently rebuilt by Sir Christopher Wren. It is known as 'Wren's Lantern', and is still a starting point for the 'Camino' or pilgrim way across Europe to the shrine of St James the Great at Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain.The Fraternity of St James was founded on 25 July (St James Day) 1375 as a parish Guild for men and women (known as Brothers and Sisters). It was dissolved in 1549, but revived in its 650th anniversary year in 2025 as a body of Friends and Associates of St James Garlickhythe.

The Travellers Club is a traditional gentlemen's club located at 106 Pall Mall. It was founded in 1819 by a cohort led by Lord Castlereagh and in 1832 moved to its present purpose-built clubhouse designed by Charles Barry.
