After journeying through Shropshire along the pilgrim trail of St Winefride (whose relics were once housed at Shrewsbury Abbey), it felt obligatory to visit the saint's famous well in Holywell, Flintshire, when we travelled into Wales to visit Bach y Graig.

St Winefride was a seventh-century saint whose story of death and resurrection has inspired centuries of people to seek intercession and healing at the spring that is associated with her passion. The stunning architecture of her early sixteenth-century chapel connects with themes of resurrection in the art of the British Isles researched by Byrga Geniht. Since 2023 the sacred destination is designated a National Shrine of Wales and England by the Catholic Church.
