Sutton Hoo Revisited

26-28 August 2023

This long weekend (26, 27, 28 August, 2023), our consultant James had a great time delivering living history outreach to the public at National Trust Sutton Hoo with leading Anglo-Saxon heritage researchers and educators Thegns of Mercia. James delivered two lectures each day focusing on the connections between early medieval England and the eastern Mediterranean in 'From Egypt to East Anglia', and widening the discussion to encompass the broader philosophical freight carried in Anglo-Saxon art in 'Mystery of the Garnet'.
